Marshaltown tries to help laid off truckers

The community of Marshalltown is reaching out to laid-off employees of Midland Transportation. About 400 truckers, mechanics and office workers were out of work when Midland closed in July, owing a local bank more than seven and-a-half million dollars. A Lutheran church is host for speakers from credit counseling, welfare, human services, employment agencies and legal services also will be represented, and There will also be free lunch and free child care.
