Sigourney youth killed in accident

August 10, 2001 By admin

A head-on crash in broad daylight killed a popular high schooler in Keokuk County Thursday.17-year-old Clinton Cavin of Sigourney was northwest of town on a county road when he collided head-on with a car driven by 27-year-old William Moore. Moore was treated and released at the scene, Cavin was killed in the crash. The state patrol report says another passing vehicle had raised dust and impaired visibility at the intersection where the crash happened. Officials say Cavin wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, and officials say having one might have saved his life. The 17-year-old was a popular student at Sigourney High School. He would have been starting his senior year this fall, and was a member of the football team.
