Davenport will have baseball for at least another year. The city has voted to transfer the lease for John O’Donnell Stadium to the group that’s buying the Quad City River Bandits. The team will play in Davenport next year, but the group plans to move the team to Ohio in 2003. Davenport Mayor Phil Yerington and current Bandits owner Kevin Krause are trying to lure another team to the area. Yerington wants I-Cubs owner Michael Gartner to move a minor league team from Michigan that Gartner’s buying to the city. While Krause wants Gartner to move the Michigan team into a new stadium that’s proposed for across the river in Moline.
