Former legislator lands Bush Administration post

September 7, 2001 By admin

A former state legislator has landed a Bush administration position with the Health Care Financing Administration. Gary Blodgett of Clear Lake started work last week as a federal administrative judge with the Medicare Provider Reimbursement Review Board. Blodgett sits on a board which a certified Medicare provider, such as a hospital, may appeal a final determination by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Blodgett says the hearings are conducted like a court proceeding. Blodgett was active in health care legislation both as a practicing orthodontist and as an assistant majority leader in the Iowa House.
