Former U-S Secretary of State speaks to Iowans

September 15, 2001 By admin

Former U-S Secretary of State Madeleine Albright told an Iowa audience there’s no question what happened Tuesday has forever changed the way American’s feel about their role in the world. She says the most important point is this will be a long fight.Albright says America is a “magical country” that will overcome the threats of terrorism. But she suggests caution and patience.Albright praises the way President Bush and his administration have handled the situation, and dismisses the idea America brought the attack on itself by its support of Israel. Albright says the U-S is in a struggle with extremists, not Islam, Muslims or Arab countries.Albright lectured yesterday afternoon, via satellite, to a gathering at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. Albright, who is 64, was America’s first woman Secretary of State, serving during the Clinton Administration.
