Iowa’s living Governors honored

September 17, 2001 By admin

Iowa’s four living governors gathered Sunday at the Governor’s mansion in Des Moines. The event was to be a celebration of the four governors and their hometowns, but its meaning changed because of last Tuesday’s events. Former Governor Terry Branstad says the celebration is also a way to show our solidarity as part of the United States of America.Former Governor Robert Ray says regardless of party, regardless of era, Iowans and Americans are together. He says if there is anything good to come out of this, it’s that people are more unified. The politicians say they often fight amongst themselves, but when the chips are down and the country’s threatened, they stand together.
