Cedar Rapids wraps up Gothic display

September 18, 2001 By admin

After a successful summer run, the Grant Wood “American Gothic” statues are slowly coming down in Cedar Rapids. Renaissance Group marketing director Jennifer Partridge says the “Overalls All Over” displays will be completely disassembled by this evening.Partridge says the famous dual pose caricatures dotted the downtown landscape in different themes since June. Now, some will be transplanted in the heart of the windy city in Chicago.Partridge says the goal was to draw people to the city center and they feel it was a success. Some of the statues will be auctioned off at an awards ceremony October 23rd.
