Two issues pass vote in Mahaska County

September 26, 2001 By admin

Oskaloosa and Mahaska County voters said “yes-yes” to a pair of tax-raising school bond issues Tuesday. Both questions on the ballot passed. One extends the current six-percent sales tax by 15 years. The other asks for another one-percent sales tax for school infrastructure for ten years. The goals include a 26-million dollar Oskaloosa school facilities project: a new elementary school and renovations at the junior high and high schools. The new combined 7% sales tax takes effect in January 2002.
