September 27, 2001 By admin

Iowa Senator Tom Harkin is meeting with airport officials around the state today. Harkin, a democrat, says we can’t forget the small airports in bailing out the airline industry. He says they provide an essential service and must stay in business. He says security has increased greatly and Iowans shouldn’t be reluctant to fly. In fact, he says this is probably the safest time to fly with all the security. Harkin says he isn’t sold yet on the idea of arming pilots, he says he’d rather have a sky marshal.Harkin says he also favors having cockpit doors reinforced.
