Bus service halted after attack

October 3, 2001 By admin

Bus service halted nationwide after an early morning Greyhound bus wreck in Tennessee that claimed ten lives. Edwin Brecht is the manager of the Jefferson terminal at the Mason City Municipal Airport near Clear Lake. He says Greyhound appears to be taking a careful approach to investigating what happened.Brecht says there are not too many people hanging around the Mason City-Clear Lake terminal waiting for bus service to resume. Brecht thinks the response by Greyhound as well as Jefferson was the correct move to make. Brecht says if you were planning to travel by bus today, you should call ahead to the terminal to check the status of bus service. Early this morning, a passenger on the Tennessee bus told a local t-v station the bus crashed after another passenger slashed the driver’s throat. A federal transportation official calls it a random incident that’s not related to the September 11th attacks.
