Independence police warn of scam

October 4, 2001 By admin

Eastern Iowa authorities are warning of another possible telephone scam. Police say an unidentified woman called an Independence woman and told her she had been approved for a loan. The caller asked the woman to send almost 900 dollars to a company called “Financial Link Incorporated” to secure the 10-thousand dollar loan. The Independence woman had never applied for a loan. A check of the Canadian phone number found the number was out of order. Officials could also find no such record of the company. Officials are asking anyone who gets a similar phone call to contact police.
