The son of a slain civil rights leader spoke Thursday night at a student-run “Day of Peace” event at the University of Northern Iowa. Martin Luther King the Third says he’s glad to have the opportunity to talk about the September 11th terrorist attacks on the East Coast.Echoing some of his late father’s ideals, King says he’d like to see a non-violent response to the attacks which claimed thousands of lives.He says it is a goal that’s achievable, but the U-S has to proceed with caution, both in responding to terrorism overseas — and at home.King is president of the Atlanta-based Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
