Senator Tom Harkin doesn’t like the idea of re-opening Reagan Nationalairport in Washington, D-C. Earlier this week, Iowa’s other U-S Senator,Chuck Grassley, said re-opening the D-C airport was an important move toshow the terrorists they weren’t winning, and it would put 16-thousandpeople back to work. Harkin says the flight path into and out of Nationalairport is too close to the White House, the Capitol and the Pentagon.Harkin was a military pilot in the Vietnam era, and he says the airportnever should have been built on the site. A plane taking off from Nationalflies over the nation’s Capitol, White House and Pentagon within the firstminute it’s airborne. Flights resumed at National on Thursday.
