October 8, 2001 By admin

Pentagon officials say the allied air strikes on Afghanistan will lastseveral days, if not longer, which suits Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley. Hesays this is a carefully-planned attack which aims to strike at the heart ofthe terrorist camps, not civilians. Grassley says we’re targeting governmentbuildings, air defenses, air bases, “things where there is the least chanceof hurting innocent lives.” U-S officials say the first air attacks Sundaywere “very successful,” while the Taliban’s ambassador to Pakistan saysabout 20 people, including the elderly, women and children, were killed.Grassley says he’s seen NOTHING confirmed about civilians being hit — hesays they are “measured, precise strikes.” He says “we are in this to getterrorists and nobody else…we want to get the culprits that killed seventhousand Americans” who are a threat to every democratic society in theworld. Grassley says Iowans and people across the United States are backingthis effort.
