Virus hoax circulates in Independence

October 11, 2001 By admin

In northeast Iowa, Buchanan County leaders are warning parents about a virus hoax in the Independence School District. The hoax involves copies of letters reportedly sent home with students that say the Klingerman Virus is not a joke. The letters say no one should open large blue envelopes which arrive by mail as they contain small sponges which carry the virus. The envelopes are reportedly marked as being a “Special Gift from the Foundation.”
