UNI Winter commencement will go on

October 12, 2001 By admin

The December commencement ceremony at the University of Northern Iowa -will- be held as scheduled, thanks to U-N-I’s student government. The ceremony was targeted to be eliminated to save money, but student leaders voted this week to help pay for it. U-N-I registrar Phil Patton says the Student Senate is putting up nearly 14-thousand dollars.
Patton says the student government was -not- asked to offer the money to pay for half of the ceremony’s costs.
About 750 students plan to attend the December graduation ceremony.
