An eastern Iowa boy turned his birthday party into a fundraiser.
Eleven-year-old Thomas Farrell of Davenport was impressed with the actions of firefighters and police officers on September 11th, and wants to be one or the other when he grows up. Instead of accepting gifts on his birthday, he asked for monetary donations. He and his friends raised more than 400 dollars that’ll be divided between the Davenport Fire Department and the families of fallen New York firefighters. Thomas was invited to have his party at the nearby fire station honored firefighters with his cake. Amidst flames of orange frosting were the words “Davenport’s Bravest”.
