The Iowa State Patrol seized marijuana worth over 400-thousand dollars in two seperate traffic stops this weekend. Sergeant Robert Hansen says one stop came Sunday on Interstate 29 in Pottawattamie County.
A trooper stopped a 33-foot motorhome and asked to search it after getting conflicting information from the driver and passenger. The trooper found 150 pounds of marijuana with and estimated value of 225-thousand dollars. Hansen says that stop followed a bust on Friday.
A trooper stopped a vehicle on I-80 in Dallas County and smelled marijuana. A search turned up 120 pounds of marijuana with an estimated value of 180-thousand dollars. Hansen says the busts are pretty typical of what can be found on Iowa’s interstate highways.
