UNI coach says he doesn’t care about polls

October 23, 2001 By admin

Despite holding sole possession of the Gateway Conference lead, the Northern Iowa Panthers have failed to crack the one-double-a national top ten. The Panthers are 11th in the latest poll after improving to 5-1 overall with a victory at Western Illinois.
U-N-I coach Mark Farley says he doesn’t care about the poll as respect will come if they take care of business. Farley says while Saturday’s win was big, it is too early to start talking about a championship. He say they have to get their feet back on the ground and focus on what they’re doing right and what they’re doing wrong. Farley says the Panthers need to keep getting better before they can talk about the future. He says the only thing in the future right now is Illinois State.
