Fonda not fond of its slogan

October 24, 2001 By admin

A tiny town in northwest Iowa’s Pocahontas County is looking to freshen up its slogan to attract new residents.
Fonda resident Denise Bass is helping coordinate the effort to find a new motto for the community, which was named for the town of Fonda, New York way back in 1874.
The town’s current motto is “Everything Here Except Henry” which is a reference to the actor, Henry Fonda, who died nearly 20 years ago. Bass say younger generations have no idea who he is and a new slogan is badly needed. Suggestion boxes are being stuffed all around the town of 731 as it strives to grow larger. Any resident can make a suggestion, and they’ll keep the box open until the 31st of this month. A committee will chose the three best slogans and put it to a community vote in a few weeks.
