Elk Horn residents gather to protest hog farm

November 5, 2001 By admin

A group of around 100 Elk Horn residents met last night to discuss opposition to a factory hog farm proposed near their community. Representatives of the group Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement spoke to the group and told them they need to push legislators for changes in the confinement law. Elk Horn resident and business owner, Gary Wolfe, says he’s worried about the impact the hog farm will have on local tourism. He says people won’t visit the community if the hog farm is allowed to go up.The Elk Horn City Council is expected to pass a resolution in opposition to the hog farm at its meeting Monday.
