Iowa expects business, not pleasure in exhibition against Globetrotters

November 7, 2001 By admin

The Iowa basketball team plays its second exhibition tonight by hosting the Harlem Globetrotters. Don’t expect the Hawkeyes to play the role of the Washington Generals, though. The Globetrotters are playing games for real these days and coach Iowa coach Steve Alford says his players are aware of that. He says they’ve posted the record of the Globetrotters on their bulletin board so his team understands what they’re up against.Iowa opened exhibition play with a lopsided win over the Chicago All-Stars last week. Alford says this game won’t include a basketball with a rubber band or a bucket full of confetti, it’ll be serious action.
