William Penn plays Bethel again

November 8, 2001 By admin

The William Penn football team will try to post its best record since 1987 when the Statesmen visit Bethel College of Tennessee in their season finale. Penn is 3-6 and coach Jim Cox says a victory would be a great way to end the program’s first season in the N-A-I-A ranks. This is the second game this season between the two teams, which Cox admits is unusual in college football. He says since they don’t go into a conference until next year, it was hard to get others to play this year. How this game is played should be different from the first time. Bethel won a 17-16 matchup that was played in the mud in Oskaloosa. He says it was fun to play in, but they didn’t have their starting quarterback. This time Bethel has lost their starting quarterback.
