The eighth-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes led for nearly the entire game in a hard-fought 75-71 victory over 14th ranked Memphis last night in Kansas City in the semifinal round of the Guardians Classic. Iowa coach Steve Alford says getting to the foul line kept Memphis at bay during the waning minutes of the game. He says they still missed too many free throws, even though they won.Pressure defense by Memphis forced a number of Hawkeye turnovers in the opening half but Alford says they adjusted as the game went on.
