Recount finally determines winner in Indepence election

A Florida-like election recount was completed in Buchanan County Tuesday without the aid of the Supreme Court.The initial results of the November 6th election showed that Betty Knippel had won a seat on the Independence city council by two votes. The canvass of the votes by the county supervisors turned up 10 votes for write-in candidate Greg Bressler, giving him an eight-vote victory. Knippel asked for a re-count, but that found only two disqualified votes and Bressler wins the council seat by six votes.
