Hawkeyes blow lead, lose to Missouri

The Iowa Hawkeyes let an 11-point lead slip away in the final two and a half minute in a 78-77 loss to Missouri last night in the title game of the Guardians Classic in Kansas City. Clarence Gilbert won the game with a free throw with just under a second remaining after being fouled by the Hawkeyes’ Glen Worley.Iowa coach Steve Alford says he felt Missouri got away with numerous fouls in their late comeback. He says they were the more dominant and efficient team from the start to the finish, but it was a different kind of basketball in the closing minutes.Alford says while Missouri hit some late three-pointers he was pleased with the overall effort on defense.
