For the first time in the history of the Iowa State-Iowa series, the Cyclones have a four-game winning streak. Tony Yelk’s 32-yard field goal proved to be the game winner as the Cyclones downed the Hawkeyes 17-14. For Iowa State it completes a 7-4 regular season and guarantees a trip to a bowl.Cyclone Coach Dan McCarney says both teams accomplished a lot this season, but he’s really proud of his team, staff and players. McCarney says it’s good to see both teams finish the season with winning records.Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says a slow start proved costly for his team. He says his team looked tight and may’ve been a little too keyed up.Ferentz says he is not sure about the Hawks’ bowl chances, but says he’ll keep his fingers crossed.
