Cyclones anxiously await bowl destination

December 3, 2001 By admin

Iowa State officials are still waiting to see where the Cyclones will go bowling this month. A bid to the Independence Bowl was hoped for over the weekend but Colorado’s upset win over Texas in the Big-12 championship game has caused some confusion over how many teams from the conference will qualify for the Bowl Championship Series. Iowa State coach Dan McCarney would like to see fans get plenty of time to make travel plans.Getting two Big-12 teams into B-C-S bowls would make everything fall into place.McCarney says the added practice time the Cyclones are getting right now will help next season. He says they noticed the difference in players this year after last year’s bowl trip.
