Ground was broken this morning on yet another Iowa ethanol plant. The latest plant will go up in the town of Earlville, just east of Manchester in Delaware County. The facility will be built by Northeast Iowa Ethanol and owned by farmers. When complete, it’ll produce 15-million gallons of the corn-based fuel a year. Last month, groundbreakings for two more ethanol plants were held in Steamboat Rock and Marcus. That’s seven plants under construction in a state where seven are already operating. When they’re all built, Iowa will tie Minnesota for the most ethanol plants in any state at 14.
