Several injured in Palo Alto County bus accident

December 6, 2001 By admin

Fifteen people were injured this morning when a school bus and a car collided at a gravel-road intersection two miles south of Fenton. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s department says the accident occurred just before eight, when a school bus from the Sentral School District collided with a pickup. Principal Chris Paulsen says thirteen students were taken by ambulance to hospitals in Emmetsburg and Algona. He says the bus driver, Kenneth Bierstad of Fenton, was taken to Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. The principal says the bus driver and students suffered only minor injuries, and the bus apparently rolled into a ditch after the crash. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s department says the driver of the pickup truck suffered the worst injuries.
