About 18 shopping days are left until Christmas and about four months until Tax Day. Iowans who are having I-R-S problems may find solutions at a hearing this morning in Des Moines. The Midwest Citizen Advocacy Panel or CAP is made up of “ordinary people” according to chairman John Boehm, folks who try to make the taxpayer’s experience with the Internal Revenue Service as pain free as possible. Boehm says they hear complaints in addition to suggestions.Boehm, a lawyer in Lincoln, Nebraska, says the CAP was set up to have a direct line to the top levels of the I-R-S. After three years on the volunteer panel, he says the CAP can and does get things accomplished toward the goal of making the tax collection agency more user-friendly. He says they can take the suggestions to the top level of the I-R-S and get results. The CAP meeting runs from 8 A-M until noon today at the Country Inn and Suites in Clive.
