High-ranking U-of-I Dean stabbed to death

Cedar Rapids police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a dean at the University of Iowa this morning. Authorities say the victim is 55-year-old Richard Philip Nelson, Executive Dean of the University’s College of Medicine. Police arrived at a northwest Cedar Rapids apartment this morning, to find Nelson suffering from a stab wound. He died at a local hospital about 9-40 this morning. Cedar Rapids police interviewed a woman about the stabbing, but no arrests have been made and no charges filed.
