Iowa used a sixteen-oh run in the first half to build a 25-point lead at the break as the 15th ranked Hawkeyes cruised past Drake 101-59 in Iowa City last night. Iowa coach Steve Alford says his team has bounced back well since last week’s loss at U-N-I. He says in the last two games they’ve given Iowa State their largest loss in the series and in this game had the largest margin of victory in any of their meetings with the Bulldogs.Alford says the Hawks are clicking on offense. He says they’re doing as well offensively has they’ve done since he’s been coach.Luke Recker led the Hawkeyes with 24-points on nine of 13 shooting. He says he’s struggled early and has rushed shots, but says it’s starting to come to him now. Recker says a big key was Iowa’s domination on the backboards.Drake coach Kurt Kanaskie says his team has to put this game behind them. He says it’s embarrassing to sit on the bench and take it, but says they can’t do anything but get to work and improve for their next games. Kanaskie says they’ve gone on after close games with Iowa and had poor seasons, so he hopes this time they’ll go the other way.
