After leading Preston to back-to-back class 1A state championships, Todd Borrison took over a Davenport Assumption program that qualified for the class 3A state tournament last season. The Knights are 3-2 and tenth-ranked heading into tonight’s game against class 4A 6th ranked Muscatine. When taking over a new program there is a time of transition but Borrison says it has been easier at Assumption because the players were used to an up-tempo style, and that’s why he chose the school.Last year Danville made a surprising run to the boys’ class 2A state championship. This year, Danville is anything but a surprise and takes a 5-0 mark into a game tonight against West Burlington.Danville coach Ken Lafoon says the starters brought a lot of high expectations back this year. As a sophomore, Jake Wenig was the M-V-P of the class 2A field nd Lafoon says as a junior he has become the focus of defenses.
