Two weeks from today, Iowa’s Human Services panel will meet again to see if it looks likely the governor will be able to keep his word about finding money to head off cuts in funding. State revenues are way down this year, and spokesman Roger Munns says having to cut services and turn away clients would be a cruel irony since the same economic conditions causing the state’s budget woes are forcing more people to seek help from the agency. Some critics say the governor’s postponing cuts in health and human services, but may plan to blame the legislature if money doesn’t show up and deep cuts have to be made after all.
