Fire apparently started by a workman’s torch seriously damaged a machine shop at the Heart of Iowa fertilizer plant in Story City Wednesday afternoon. Crews were called about 4:30 PM to the shop on the south side of Story City, and took barely an hour to bring the blaze under control. Two machines were moved from the shop, but a skid loader, a forklift and a tractor were destroyed by the fire.
