What should you do if you’re pulled over while driving on an Iowa street or highway? It’s a good time to drive carefully, and the state patrol’s Sergeant Bob Hansen says there’s always the chance they’re NOT “after you.”If you see emergency lights, fire, ambulance or police, first evaluate the situation and don’t panic. Hansen says if they seem to want you to stop, you should pull off the road safely and not slam on the brakes. If they don’t pass you and keep on going, park as far over on the shoulder as you safely can, and wait. Then the officer will let you know what he needs or wants to tell you. Hansen says though it wouldn’t hurt to have your driver’s license out, you’d be wise not to make any sudden moves, or jump out of your car as soon as you stop.
