Hit-and-run accident under investigation in North-Central Iowa

January 2, 2002 By admin

North-central Iowa officials are investigating a hit-and-run accident that killed a teenager from Ringsted early New Year’s Day. Eighteen-year-old Andrew Joseph Preston was found laying near the end of a long farm driveway about 10 miles northeast of Fenton at about 1:15 Tuesday morning. Investigators say it appears Preston was struck and dragged by a vehicle. The medical examiner says he died of head injuries. The Kossuth County Sheriff says the driver who was responsible left the scene. The vehicle suspected of being involved was impounded yesterday morning, but no arrests have been made.
