The state’s economic situation is being blamed for the loss of two county court officials in eastern Iowa. Jackson County Clerk of Court Lois Schnoor and deputy clerk Gloria Sagers resigned Monday due to state budget cuts. Schnoor had held the post 33 years. Sagers reportedly lost 600-dollars a month because she was demoted under the tighter budget. Their resignations mean some Jackson County jobs, which had already been eliminated, can be restored. Meanwhile, Clinton County Court Clerk Marilyn Huff has been named supervising clerk for Jackson County. Huff plans to merge the two offices.
