Mom arrested for letting teen son get drunk on New Year’s Day

January 3, 2002 By admin

A western Iowa boy learned how -not- to welcome the new year, and so did his mother. An unidentified 40-year-old Council Bluffs woman is in the Pottawattamie County Jail after she admitted letting her son drink 20 shots of hard liquor within two hours on New Year’s Eve. The woman called police after the 16-year-old began vomiting and passing out. The boy was treated at the hospital; the mother was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment. She told police she let her son drink because it was New Year’s Eve and she just “lost track of how much he drank.”
