Bettendorf faces higher taxes

The faltering economy is taking another bite out of one of eastern Iowa’s larger towns.Bettendorf property owners may face higher taxes for the first time in a decade due to lower income from road use taxes, hotel/motel taxes and other sources. Mayor Anne Hutchinson gave her “state of the city” speech yesterday and said there’s a one-and-a-half million dollar deficit.
