An 11-year-old boy led Story County deputies in a chase yesterday afternoon. Lieutenant Gary Foster of the Story County Sheriff’s Department says the boy’s foster mother called, saying he had left home.Someone in Roland then called the cops, saying a truck had driven across a yard, and the driver probably was too young to be behind the wheel. Deputies found the truck on the road near Ames, followed it for awhile, then the kid pulled over and was taken into custody. Foster says the boy had a hard time seeing over the dashboard. The kid was short, and was wearing a cowboy hat to boot, making “visibility difficult” according to Foster. The boy is now in a juvenile detention facility in Des Moines.
