C.R. cop pleads not guilty to assault charge

A Cedar Rapids cop is pleading not guilty to assaulting his live-in girlfriend.42-year-old Dean Thompson, a 20-year veteran of the C.R.P.D., has a jury trial scheduled for February 25 on a charge of domestic assault. Thompson’s accused of shoving a 25-year-old woman into the wall, injuring her, at the apartment they shared. The woman was treated and released, and she asked that a routine no-contact order filed after the incident be cancelled. Thompson’s been on paid leave since spending a night in jail after the incident.
