Illinois officials pleads not guilty to Iowa sex charge

The leader of a western Illinois town entered a plea to sex charges in eastern Iowa. Aledo, Illinois, mayor Red Stancliff has entered a written not guilty plea to a prostitution charge in Davenport. Stancliff was caught in November with a known prostitute in downtown Davenport and he admitted he’d paid her for a sex act. Another hearing will be held later this month. Stancliff resigned as Aledo’s fire chief but refuses to step down as mayor.
