Head of National Guard visits Iowa

The man who oversees all the National Guard units in the United States is visiting Des Moines today. Colonel Robert King, spokesman for the Iowa Guard, the National Guard Bureau selects a theme for each year. Lieutenant General Russell Davis, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, will be at Camp Dodge to introduce this year’s theme: “Year of Diversity.” Colonel King says the theme chosen for this year is important. as he says diversity has made the National Guard strong. King says General Davis’ visit is a big deal, as the leader of the Guard doesn’t often get to visit individual installations.Davis has ties to Iowa. He was a pilot with the Air Guard’s 132nd fighter wing while studying law at Drake University in Des Moines.
