As the bitter cold of winter sets in, many Iowans seek warmer climates and hot vacation deals.Central Iowa travel agent Sharon Brown says plenty of packages are being offered as airlines look to recover some of last year’s losses and to get people back in the air with the holidays behind us.Popular destinations at the moment include Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and Fort Myers, Florida. She saw a deal last week that included roundtrip airfare and hotel in Las Vegas from Des Moines for 250-dollars. Brown says some people are still hesitant to fly after the September 11th attacks, and others are staying within the U-S.Brown says for a thousand dollars or so there are all sorts of trips to various Caribbean resorts that include airfare, lodging and meals.
