Cyclone women get back to Big 12 action in Texas

January 8, 2002 By admin

The sixth-ranked Iowa State women’s basketball team returns to Big-12 play tomorrow night at 16th ranked Texas. The Cyclones pounded the Longhorns by 40-points last year in Ames but Cyclone coach Bill Fennelly is not expecting a similar result. He says a lot has changed for both teams since that game, including the location, which is in Texas instead of Ames.Fennelly says the Longhorns are off to a great start and are playing with a great sense of urgency and have shown they can handle close games.Fennelly says the Cyclones will need a solid effort and will have to handle the ball better and make some shots while keeping key people out of foul trouble.Iowa State is 1-1 in the Big-12.
