Conference analyzes art and September 11th

A conference planned for next weekend in Iowa City aims to analyze the role of artists during times of crisis — with a focus on September 11th. The forum will gather politicians and academics along with artists, from poets to painters to dancers. Susan Zickmund is organizing the event.The event is called “Infinite Respect, Enduring Dignity: Voices and Visions on the September Attacks”. Congressman Jim Leach is the keynote speaker. Zickmund says other speakers and panelists will include: Christopher Rossi from the U-of-I law school; Mary Gilchrist, director of the U-of-I Hygienic Lab; Christopher Merrill, director of the International Writing Program; and choreographer Bill T. Jones.Zickmund is a research scientist at the University of Iowa and helps coordinate the “Project on the Rhetoric of Inquiry” or POROI.The “Infinite Respect” conference will be held January 25-26.
