It was trifecta of two point ballgames last night in college basketball involving Iowa teams. .The Boulder Blues continued for Iowa State as the Cyclones fell in the final seconds at Colorado 63-61. The Buffaloes scored and ISU had 2.9 seconds to go the length of the floor, but couldn’t get off a shot. Jake Sullivan led Iowa State with 20 points. The Cyclones fall to 1-3 in conference play and 9-9 overall. They go on the road next to take on Kansas State.Northern Iowa fell from the ranks of once beatens in Missouri Valley Conference play. Aaron Middendorf’s three-pointer bounced off the rim at thebuzzer as Southwest Missouri State edged the Panthers 80-78. U-N-I trailed 80-76 with three-point-five seconds remaining. David Gruber hit two free throws and Eric Smith forced a held ball on the ensuing in-bounds pass to give the Panthers a final chance. Robbie Sieverding led U-N-I with 26-pointsas the Panthers drop to 4-2.Andry Sola’s lay-up with four-point-two seconds remaining lifted Drake to a 63-61 victory over Evansville as the Bulldogs snapped a six game road losingstreak. David Newman had a career-high 17-points, all in the second half of play as Drake rallied from a ten point halftime deficit to improve to 3-3 inthe Valley. The Bulldogs and Panthers collide Sunday in Des Moines.
