Public demand for Winnebagos exceeds supply

January 17, 2002 By admin

North-central Iowa based Winnebago Industries will be hiring more than 100 workers as they try to keep up with the increasing demand for motor homes. Winnebago President/CEO Bruce Hertzke says the company is hiring the additional staff and also scheduling overtime hours so they can increase production. Over 32-hundred people are currently on staff at Winnebago’s plants in Forest City, Hampton, Charles City, and Lorimor. Hertzke says as of January 12th, the company was on a sales order backlog of 23-hundred-65 units, a 70-percent increase of a backlog of just under 14-hundred units at this same time last year.
